“Because allergies can result in a variety of symptoms, they are frequently blamed when they do not exist!
“For instance, in one study of 50 babies with skin rashes, all supposedly allergic to milk, none showed improvement when milk was denied them. Such rashes are usually caused by a lack of B vitamins or linoleic acid and clear up when the missing nutrients are supplied.
“Physicians have pointed out that migraines, or so-called “histamine” headaches, are rarely due to allergies, but occur when the blood sugar is low.
“I frequently find persons living year after year on severely restricted, inadequate diets because of “allergies” even though their symptoms persist or become progressively worse. When a food is vital to health, it should not be withdrawn from the diet except temporarily and then only if disturbing symptoms disappear as soon as it is withheld…….”
“….. How allergens enter the body: Healthy cells can prevent harmful substances from entering them. A lack of almost any nutrient, however, increases cell permeability, as if a fine sieve were replaced by a coarse one; therefore valuable nutrients can leak from such cells and toxic materials pass into them. If the protein intake is low, for example, injected dyes can enter cells which they cannot penetrate when the diet is excellent.
“Too little vitamin C increases cell permeability by allowing connective tissue to break down. Similarly, if the essential fatty acids are undersupplied or damaged by oxygen because vitamin E is inadequate, thec cells become so permeable that harmful substances readily enter them; thus vitamin E is particularly important in preventing such permeability.
“The fact that bottle-fed babies and growing children are deficient in vitamin E undoubtedly plays a role in the tragic early onset of allergies.
“Vitamin A decreases the permeability of cells both in the skin and mucous membranes. When 100 000 units of vitamin A and 200 milligrams of vitamin E were given daily to adults for only a short time, their cells showed a rapid and marked increase in the ability to prevent foreign substances from penetrating them.
“Many years ago a physician told me that he gave 100 000 units of vitamin A daily for four months before the expected hay fever season to all his patients who suffered annually from this allergy, and that 98 per cent of them remained symptom-free. Since that time I have found the same supplementation to be effective for dozens of hay-fever sufferers.”*
Improve Effectiveness of Vitamin C
As noted above in her book, Adelle Davis mentions that calcium appears to both increase the value of vitamin C and decrease the sensitivity to pain. Calcium gluconate is the best painkiller around. Large enough doses will “switch off” almost any pain.
See below for more information about the best way to get your calcium.
Calcium Needs Magnesium: In order for your body to absorb calcium, it needs to be accompanied by its partner, magnesium, in a balanced ratio of two parts calcium to one part magnesium.
Calcium and Magnesium Need Vitamin C: As both calcium and magnesium are alkaline, they need some kind of acid before they can be absorbed. Failing to have this combination can lead to increased deficiencies of calcium and/or magnesium or the calcium depositing in joints (arthritis) or kidneys (stones). You can use apple cider vinegar too but vitamin C is usually a more practical and better-tasting solution.
Why Our Instant CalMag-C Works: Unlike tablets and capsules that sometimes don’t break down properly, Instant CalMag-C has been formulated in a 2:1 blend of calcium gluconate and magnesium carbonate with vitamin C to adjust the pH so your body can actually absorb the calcium and magnesium. This is very important. It is made with boiling water and this is very important as calcium particles are large and the chemical reaction created by dissolving the powder with boiling water breaks them down into absorbable ones. It has a very pleasant lemony taste.
Calcium Also Needs Vitamins D & F: Most people know that vitamin D is needed to absorb calcium. This is correct but the vitamin D only absorbs it into your bloodstream. What most people don’t know is that, in order to get calcium from your bloodstream into your tissues, you need vitamin F (another name for essential fatty acids). Vitamins D and F need to be in balance with each other so make sure you take a good quality fish (or cod) liver or flax oil in your daily diet. They are very important for good hormonal function too.
We have not added vitamin D or F to Instant CalMag-C as they are both oil soluble vitamins whereas calcium and magnesium are water soluble and it’s not a good idea to mix them.
Please note: We are not doctors. If you have any pain that is not resolving with simple solutions, you must get the appropriate medical help.
