What Causes Tension and What is The Solution?

Are you, like millions of others, chronically tense or anxious?
Do you suffer from a dry mouth or feel like you’re suffocating? Is your stomach constantly in a knot or having spasms? Or, do you get chronic muscle cramps? Here, let me give you some data that might explain these phenomena.
Your nervous system is a communication network that controls and co-ordinates most body activities. In addition, the nervous system works unnoticed to regulate a multitude of internal activities, such as modulating body temperature or altering heart rate, in order to maintain homeostasis – the state of balance and stability that exists in a healthy body regardless of changes in the external and internal environments of a person.
The nervous system consists of the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems. Your parasympathetic nervous system keeps you calm and helps slow your mind and your body down whilst your sympathetic nervous system keeps you going, going, going.
This is important because when you’re supposed to be on the go – working, exercising, in action – you need your sympathetic nervous system to be firing away and providing you with energy but, when you’re supposed to relax, unwind, eat calmly, sleep peacefully, your parasympathetic nervous system needs to take over.
In other words, a balanced nervous system will allow you to have plenty of energy when you’re supposed to but also allow you to be calm and peaceful when you’re supposed to be relaxed.
To function properly, your parasympathetic nervous system needs the alkaline minerals to create the calmness and peace whilst your sympathetic nervous system requires the acid minerals to give that energy when you need it for your work or play. But the keyword here is BALANCE. You need both the alkaline AND acid minerals but they must be in balance so you don't exclude one or the other unless you're already getting too much of one from the foods you eat.
The main alkaline minerals include, amongst others, calcium, magnesium and potassium while the predominant acid mineral is phosphorus.
Phosphorus mainly comes from your grains (breads, pastas, crackers, processed foods, pies, cakes, etc) – your typical American diet – while calcium, magnesium and potassium mainly come from your greens – of which most people don’t get enough.
The important thing to know is that you need to eat more green vegetables and fewer grains.
You can also supplement with a good quality calcium and magnesium supplement like Instant CalMag-C (see below) as well as try taking two to three teaspoons of a good quality apple cider vinegar such as Braggs in some water with raw organic honey to get some good quality potassium into your body. This is quite a tasty drink if done right and goes a long way to providing you with the potassium your body needs. It’s available online at Paul Bragg’s site. I don’t have any connections with his organization other than being a consumer of their apple cider vinegar myself.
It is simple to reduce the tension and anxiety and have a calm and peaceful night’s sleep by eating more greens and taking good quality calcium and magnesium supplement.

I wish you a tension- and stress-free day and a good night’s sleep.

Anxiety Attacks

"Since I lost somebody very close to me, I have a problem with anxiety attacks.  It comes and goes but when I do get it, it stays for about a week where I cannot breath and therefore cannot sleep - even my lips go numb.  You just don't get enough oxygen into your lungs.  You want to yawn all the time in the hope that enough oxygen reaches your lungs.  Anyone who has had anxiety, will know what I am talking about!  I started taking Calmag-C and, within a few minutes of taking it, I can feel the breathing is calmer and I gasp less and less for air and eventually I am able to sleep.  The next morning, my breathing is still normal. Instant Calmag-C really helps. I can definitely recommend it to anyone who has anxiety!" TG Pretoria

Less Stress and Anxiety

Having a few days of not taking Instant CalMag-C, I noticed I was feeling anxious about things. I really noticed how much it helped me to feel less stress after taking it. Many thanks for your help.” J.K., United Kingdom

Tips For Handling Sleep Problems

A lot of people have sleep problems and for many this is very debilitating, affecting their relationships, ability to function properly and they very often feel depressed and just not interested in life. Your body repairs itself during sleep so if you're not sleeping it can't repair and the accumulation of all the damage can lead to more serious disease. Sleep has to be resolved and most certainly by correcting the real source of the problem instead of trying to cover up the symptoms by taking something that knocks one out. Of course, for some, there can be more serious underlying reasons and these should be addressed by a competent medical doctor - competent, being the operative word. That means one who does not just brush it off with pills but rather works with you to resolve dietary and stressful issues.

Very often, there are some basic and very simple solutions to a sleep problem and here are some of them:

1. Electronic equipment of any sort, including bedside clocks, emit electro-magnetic pulses. For most this is not a problem but for many it is. It can cause one not to be able to sleep. Even if they're switched, they can still be a problem. I have tested a number of people on these devices and found a percentage who cannot tolerate them in their space but, of course, we have to live. However, if you're intolerant of them, you definitely need to remove them from your sleeping area. This includes TV's, clock radios, cell phone, computers, etc. It would be easy to test if this is contributing to your sleep problems by just removing them for a few nights. You can always put them back into your space if there's absolutely no change. I must just add here that it is better not to sleep with them in your space even if you're not seriously affected just because it isn't ideal to have them around you day and night.

2. Don't drink any caffeinated beverages - coffee, tea, products that contain caffeine - after 2pm. If you have taken some, you might try taking a good quality B complex along with a good calcium and magnesium formula to counteract the effects.

3. Don't have any sugar or refined carbohydrate (white flour products like cakes, cookies, pastas) after 6pm. In addition, try eating a light protein snack before going to bed. By this I mean a good quality wholegrain cracker with some cream cheese or peanut butter or similar. This will compensate any blood sugar issue that could be causing you not to be able to sleep. Low blood sugar just makes one unable to switch off.

4. Avoid carbonated or bubbly drinks, including sparkling water. This means soda pop (coca cola etc), sparkling drinks etc. They leach (pull) the minerals out of your body, creating dehydration. Dehydration does not necessarily mean you need water only but minerals. It's the lack of minerals that causes the problem. That's why they put you on a drip if you end up in hospital as a result of dehydration. That's so they can get minerals (electrolytes) into your body. Extreme dehydration can result in death. Drinking excessive amounts of water is not the solution. Drink appropriate amounts for your body size PLUS the minerals you need. These are also very important for your adrenal glands as they influence your blood pressure.

The idea is to get adequate minerals, especially potassium, salt, calcium, magnesium, etc. When I talk about salt, I'm not referring to common refined table salt. No-one needs that. Real salt from the inland lakes, seas and Himalayan Mountains contain a full array of minerals. We all need these minerals. There's also a specific way to get in your calcium and magnesium. Taking tablets of calcium is not optimum as calcium and magnesium need to be taken together and in a form that the body can easily use. It also needs to have the correct pH balance.

5. Another nutritional item that many people are deficient in is good quality fish oils that supply vitamins A & D (DHA, EPA, etc). Your nervous and endocrine (hormonal) systems need them to function properly.

Add To Your Knowledge

The inability to sleep can be caused by almost any health condition, including things like depression, heartburn, cancer, asthma, arthritis, muscle and back pain.  Other things that can lead to sleep difficulties are the side effects from medications, or drug and alcohol use, as well as a high sugar or refined carbs (starchy food) consumption or insufficient protein before bed.

Besides the B vitamins being essential for good sleep, calcium and magnesium also play a big role in helping you sleep well.  Calcium and magnesium are both essential for your nerves and hormonal system to function normally and the two minerals cannot work without each other.

The harm done by sleeping tablets, to say nothing of the thousands of dollars spent annually on them, could largely be avoided if the calcium and magnesium intake is adequate and they are in a form that can be absorbed by your body. In fact, sleep meds just worsen the problem as they have side effects and one of the side effects is the destruction of nutrients in the body, robbing your body of energy too.

The intense nervousness caused by a lack of magnesium can also make it impossible to fall asleep. Calcium and magnesium also help to prevent or relieve leg cramps and muscle spasms of the toes or feet (Charley horses) which frequently wake some people or prevent them from falling asleep.

These two minerals are part of the nerve messenger system and if they're deficient, the nerves can't relax, which makes it impossible to sleep or have a restful night's sleep. Insomnia is really just an inability to relax.

In addition, potassium cannot be retained by your cells unless magnesium is also present. Without adequate magnesium, the potassium leaves the cells, creating an artificial potassium deficiency in them, making it even harder to fall asleep.

To be used by the body, calcium and magnesium need to be in a 2:1 ratio with some kind of acid to make the correct pH.

The key is absorption into the body so it can actually get these vital nutrients and you can feel the difference.

Instant CalMag-C has been formulated exactly per the body's requirements to absorb and use it.

“I was having a hard time getting my 7-year-old to wind down at the end of the night. After taking CalMag-C, he not only wound down but he ended up sleeping until 11:00 am the next morning. Prior to that morning, I was lucky if he slept past 7 am.” Wife of chiropractor, Georgia

“I really like your product. I now have my son, daughter, sister and my mother using Instant CalMag-C. It has been a god-send. I first had my 16-year-old son use it when we drove 3 hours to check out a college for him. He was so keyed up when we got to the hotel the night before he couldn’t get to sleep. Instant CalMag-C made him relax so he could go to sleep."

"I'm really so happy with Instant CalMag-C. It's not only that my back pain has almost gone but I also sleep better and feel much better during my day work. I'm much more relaxed and simply happy. I suffered from muscle stiffness and the resultant back pain for more than four years now. I can't believe that this suffering is coming to an end now! Be sure I'm going to be your most faithful customer." CG, Fairfax, VA

Energy and Sleep

As part of my daily routine, I need to have lots of energy to produce what’s necessary. By lunch time, my metabolism was getting weaker and weaker. Since I started to follow Desiree’s program, I don’t have problems with my metab any longer, even if I don’t do any exercises. This is really great as I now have enough energy – even till late at night!

Also, I used to have problems with sleep before. I could not fall asleep for a long time and this program solved this matter for me. Now, as soon as my head touches the pillow, I fall asleep. In general, I have much more pep!  Previously I was taking vitamins with the viewpoint that it’s needed in general but did not feel that they were doing anything for me.

On this program, I can feel their effect and if there are days that I miss my vitamin intake, I immediately feel the lack of them. I believe that it’s great that we have someone who can help solve problems with the body and thanks to this program, I feel much healthier by 200%. AK, Russia

Calcium: Why It's Important

Welcome to our "sleep" page. We hope you find what you're looking for and that we can help you sleep better. We have many testimonials on this topic as we have helped a lot of people to sleep better, ourselves included.

Overcoming Muscle Pain While Exercising

Anyone who exercises knows that muscles can “feel” the effects of having done so. Whether you’re fit or unfit, your muscles sure let you know that you’ve just exerted some energy.

There are various reasons for this happening. One of them is the burnt fuel – just like when you make a fire. There are residues from the burnt fuel. In your body, this burnt fuel can make it ache and cause you to feel tired because there's nothing there to spark the energy.. More on Overcoming Muscle Pain While Exercising

What Have Hormones, Stress, Sleep and Weight Got To Do With Each Other?

Everything!

Hormones

As you know, the glands of your body produce hormones. In fact, they produce more than 600 different hormones. Hormones are the chemical messengers that your glands send out to give instructions to your cells – like produce energy, go to sleep, time to wake up, digest this food, produce milk to feed the baby etc.

If there’s a breakdown in this communication system, the messages either can’t get through or they’re too weak or too strong and so get scrambled (wires get crossed), so your body starts to malfunction.

Adrenals

These glands are situated in various parts of your body and they include the adrenals (the little triangular glands above the kidneys – “ad” means above and “renal” means kidney) .

Your adrenals have a responsible job and perform many functions. One of these functions is to release a hormone called cortisol when you have any inflammation. Cortisol is your body’s own anti-inflammatory. That’s right. Your adrenals run a little factory that produces cortisol. So, when you’re under stress, those adrenals are pumping out the cortisol. Sounds good.

Stress

Stress can be defined as any mental or physical condition that causes the destruction of a few or many cells. Even something as basic as missing a meal or having an upset with someone puts stress on your body and your adrenal glands are the ones that respond to the stress.

Those tiny little glands excrete cortisol to deal with the stress. If you have any stress, they will just pump out the cortisol to deal with it.

Inflammation

Now, let’s say you have inflammation in your body and your adrenals start pumping out the cortisol to deal with it, that’s fine.

But, how about when there’s constantly some kind of inflammation caused by undetected viruses, parasites, candida, bacteria, allergies to things in the environment, food sensitivities chemical pollutants, vitamins etc, etc?

Did you know that they cause inflammation in your body? They do. Even vitamins can do this. If you're doing a hit or miss thing with the vitamins in an attempt to resolve symptoms and you're using the wrong ones or excessive doses, they add more strain to your adrenals as they have to deal with them too. Strange but true. More on What Have Hormones, Stress, Sleep and Weight Got To Do With Each Other?
